Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) - A man died after hitting a utility pole with his car Wednesday night in Fairfield County.

The collision took place around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday on Old Camden Road, about 2.4 miles east of Winnsboro.

State troopers say a man driving a 1998 Mitsubishi went off the right side of the road and struck the pole. Paramedics took him by helicopter to Palmetto Health Richland, where he later died.

The man's name has not yet been released. The collision remains under investigation.
