Columbia, SC (WLTX) - 24 hours before the Gamecocks home opener more than 100 fans set up camp to tailgate.
"As long as I can drive and walk I am going to be here," said Mr. Bill.
He's known around town as Mr. Bill the OOT-OOT Man.
"OOT-OOT Go Cocks!"
And no one knows tailgating like him. He was one of the first people to start tailgating at the RV Park more than 35 years ago.
"I tell you about tailgating in 30 years we have met them all, players, coaches, mothers and fathers."
He and his RV have gone to every USC football and Baseball game.
"I can go to New York or wherever and I put my flag up no matter the occasion."
Mr. Bill says there is nothing like tailgating for the Gamecocks.
"It's just like a family affair and every weekend it's like you have been gone for months. The cooking is great...my wife don't ever cook."
He is known for wearing his USC hard-hat. It's like his good luck charm- and In the season opener against Vanderbilt he left it in the RV.
"They were playing terrible."
So he went to go get his hat and the Gamecocks won.
"A guy told me don't you ever come to a game without that hat."
We asked him, what is your prediction for the home opener?
"If we play our game we should win by 3 touchdowns but if we don't we got problems."
Whether you are tailgating for the first time in the RV Park, "I am really excited because I think we are going to do good," said Hunter Robertson.
Or it's a yearly tradition, "It's a big community out here and I kids and everyone gets together with all of our friends," said Lisa Hunter.
For The "Oot- Oot man" being at every game, cheering on his Gamecocks is a big part of his life.
"I'm always excited," said Mr. Bill.
