Police: Suspect in Cook Out Shooting Arrested

Columbia, SC  (WLTX)  The man accused of shooting at an employee at the Cook Out restaurant in Five Points in July has been arrested.

Billy Jo Downs Jr., 22 of Greenville turned himself in at the Hampton County Sheriff's office.

Downs, according to police, is being charged with attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, discharging a firearm into an occupied conveyance, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

SLED agents assisted Columbia Police in bringing Downs to Columbia to face charges.

He was brought to Columbia Police headquarters for questioning and was then transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention center.
