Saluda, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is looking into a fatal wreck that occurred Friday night around 10:35pm.
Trooper Brent Kelly says the accident happened on Rocky Creek Road near Secondary 37 in Saluda County.
Saluda County Coroner Keith Turner says 17-year-old Deshanta Andrews of Johnston, SC was driving west on Rocky Creek Road in a Ford Taurus. Andrews' 14-year-old sister was a passenger in the vehicle.
According to Coroner Turner, Andrews' 17-year-old male neighbor was also traveling west in a 2001 Toyota Tundra Pickup.
Turner says that the two vehicles collided and Andrews went off the left side of the road, struck a tree, traveled back to the other side of the road where the vehicle overturned and caught fire.
According to the Coroner, Andrews was pinned inside the vehicle. She died on the scene.
Officials say her 14-year-old sister was airlifted to the Medical University of Georgia. Her condition is unknown.
Trooper Kelly says the driver of the pickup was not injured.
MAIT is investigating exactly how this accident happened.
