SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Bond has been set for an Atlanta woman charged with threatening a South Carolina congressman.

Last week a judge set $15,000 bond for Gloria Yvonne Brackett on a charge of pointing and presenting a firearm.

Authorities say U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy was parked outside a church Sept. 9 when Brackett approached and accused him of following her. Gowdy told authorities he drove away after the woman raised a gun.

Records showed Brackett was in jail Sunday. Authorities have said Brackett likely didn't target Gowdy because he is a public official.

Clay Allen, Brackett's attorney, said in court he's gotten calls from people who say the alleged incident was out of character for his client.

Gowdy represents the 4th District in northwestern South Carolina. The Republican was first elected in 2010.
