Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Columbia Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a hit and run accident that occurred early Sunday morning.
Police say a female pedestrian was standing on a sidewalk along Medical Park Drive around 3am when she was struck by vehicle.
According to officials, the operator of the car was allegedly seen driving off of the road two times before hitting the victim.
CPD says the driver did not stop to help the pedestrian and is accused of leaving the location and heading toward Sunset Drive.
The vehicle is described as a white compact car.
Officers say the victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
