Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- In a celebration of individuality, along with a healthy dose of encouraging creativity, Doby's Mill Elementary joined hundreds of schools around the world in celebration of International Dot Day.

Based upon concepts in a book by Peter Reynolds "The Dot," the day teaches students the importance of individuality, and encourages them to "make their mark on the world."

Different stations were set up to lead the students' creative expression through art, dance, cognitive games, and building small 'boats' out of recycled materials that were then raced.

Some of the art completed on that day is being featured as part of the "School Wide Art Project" that displays student works around the school.
