Ex-NFL Player Stephen Davis Charged With Writing Bad Checks

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- Former Carolina Panthers running back Stephen Davis is facing two separate accusations of illegal activity.

The South Carolina Department of Revenue says Davis, 38, was operating a business without a license.

Davis is the owner of PURE Lounge on Berryhill Road in Columbia.

According to information provided by the revenue department, the club's licnese was revoked in July of this year; however, revenue officials say the club continued to operate without a license.

Meanwhile, Davis is also facing three charges of writing fraudulent checks, in the amounts of $2,545.13, $1,452.80, and $260. 

The former Carolina Panthers player and Auburn standout appeared before a judge Thursday morning in Lexington County.  He declined to speak at the hearing. 

A judge granted Davis a surety bond totaling of $1,300 for the three charges.
