Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Kershaw County Sheriff Matthews says his offices have arrested Rocye Thomas Sutton on 7 counts of burglary, as well as 3 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Officers state that during the month of September, Sutton burglarized the Buffalo Baptist Church, the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, the Dekalb Baptist Church twice, as well as two Kershaw County businesses.
Sutton allegedly stole electronics and other items in the burglaries. Investigators for Kershaw County received information about the possible suspect from one of the church pastors.
Sutton, who was from Montana, was spotted in his vehicle, a description of which was provided by Kershaw County to Lancaster County. Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputies stopped Sutton and detained him until Kershaw County Officers arrived, and it was observed that Sutton's vehicle had several of the items in it that had been reported stolen.
A criminal records check on Sutton revealed an arrest for DUI in South Dakota on September 12, 2012 prior to his traveling to South Carolina. He also has previous arrests in Colorado, South Dakota, and Florida for cocaine possession, DUI, Grand Larceny, Resisting Arrest, Probation violations, Burglary, Traffic offenses, Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle, Harrassment, Failure to Appear and Disorderly Conduct.
Sutton was placed under arrest and is being detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center on bond.
