Carteret County, NC (WLTX) - The Carteret County, NC sheriff's department says they believe the 12-year-old girl kidnapped in North Carolina Monday may be in Myrtle Beach or along the South Carolina coast.
Abigale Faith Lefevers, 12, was taken from her home Tuesday morning. She's believed to be with 38-year-old Timothy Howard Newman.
Police say Newman is a registered sex offender who was released from prison last year. Police say he has been in contact with Abigale for several weeks.
Deputies say he is very knowledgeable of waterways along the East Coast, and there is a possibility he is hanging around marinas and could possibly be on a boat.
The duo are thought to be in a red 19-98 Chrysler Sebring with a North Carolina license tag AKT-6534. The vehicle may have been spotted Horry County.
