Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies have arrested a man they say was growing marijuana inside his home.

Officers took 65-year-old John Link in custody and has charged him with manufacturing marijuana.

According to deputies, they had Link's home on Ridgeway Road in Lugoff under periodic surveillance after they got information he grew marijuana. Officers got a search warrant and searched his home on Thursday.

Inside, officers say they found 27 fully developed marijuana plants and the equipment to cultivate marijuana in an indoor environment. Deputies say Link had turned a portion of his home into a greenhouse.

Officers say they seized a quarter pound of harvested marijuana as well.

According to a release, deputies characterize the marijuana plants as "some of the best quality plants they had ever seen." Sheriff Jim Matthews himself said, "This guy knew what he was doing as far as growing marijuana."
