Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- As thousands of people made their way to the fair, there were some new arrivals.
The fair-- the sound of screaing kids, the taste of food that's not so great for you and the smell of cattle. It's the norm at the State Fair. But with tradition, comes a couple new things, like San Jose.
"We've been on the list for about four years," said Bruce Taylor with San Jose.
San Jose's chance to shine has finally come and their serving up big portions with authentic Mexican flavor.
"They decided they needed some Mexican food in the fair so they called us," Taylor said.
Along with San Jose is a whole new exhibit. "One Eared Cow Glass" bring a whimsical world of bulbs, shrubbery and even Christmas to South Carolina. And probably one of the coolest things to hit the fair is a new ride called "Speed."
And for some riders it's a near death experience.
"I said, 'Uh-oh. We're all going to die,'" said 12-year-old Kade Colvin who rode along with his dad.
The ride stands at 125 feet tall and riders feel three and a half Gs of force.
"Well, you're suspended in the air so you're totally dependent upon the straps. If you didn't have that one harness you'd come shooting out," Bill Colvin said.
Whether you're eating, watching or screaming there's always somewhere to find your happy at the State Fair.
