Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Daniel Wood, Chef at the Blue Marlin restaurant, toook  the top prize in the Famously Hot Chef Showdown held Thursday evening at the South Carolina State Fair.

Carlos Brown from MoMo's restaurant came in 2nd and Travis Ellis of Thirsty Fellow came in 3rd.

It started with online voting a few weeks ago for your favorite Columbia chef and concluded with an exciting event on the WLTX stage in front of a pack audience.

The chefs each received a basket of mystery food items and were given one hour to prepare three fabulous dishes.  Among the mystery ingredients were Crolina grown lamb, Carolina shrimp, grouper, cheese curds, Carolina blue cheese, greens, and various other South Carolina grown vegetables.

Royal Chef Darren McGrady, former chef to Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana and her sons, as well as accomplished best-selling author, acted as Master of Ceremonies for this year's event.
