Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Charges have been filed in connection with shooting that involved two Columbia officers.
Tuesday, officers announced 20-year-old Shawn Pickens and a 16-year-old have been booked on several counts.
Pickens is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, unlawful delivery of a pistol to a person under the age of 18, and failure to stop on police command. The 16-year-old is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18, failure to stop on police command, and pointing and presenting a firearm.
The shooting took place Monday night in the 700 block of Vernon Street. Police say they received a call about a man with a firearm in the area. When they arrived, police confronted two suspects, and shots were fired.
The 16-year-old was shot, and is getting treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating. So far, SLED has not said who fired first.
