Anderson County, SC (Greenville News) -- A 23-year-old Tri-County Technical College broadcasting student from Anderson was killed Tuesday in an accident in which he fell from the hood of moving car while filming for a project, authorities said.
The student was identified as Joshua D. Addis, Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said.
McCown said Addis, with a video camera, was riding on the hood of a car as part of one of his projects.
A school official said Addis had checked out equipment from the college and apparently was working on a homework project. She said school officials had no knowledge of his specific plans.
"Apparently, he just fell off the car and struck his head on the pavement," McCown said. The accident occurred about 3:05 p.m. on Linmar Circle near the victim's home, authorities said.
Highway Patrol officials said the driver also was from Anderson and an investigation is continuing.
Rebecca Eidson, a Tri-County Tech spokeswoman, confirmed Addis was a student majoring in radio and TV broadcasting.
Tri-County Tech officials were "very shocked and saddened" to learn of his death, Eidson said.
"He was held in very high regard by faculty and well-liked by both faculty and students," she said.
