Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A sergeant with the Department of Mental Health's Public Safety Division is among two people arrested in a Richland County traffic stop.
Travis Pickett, 32 is charged with simple possession of marijuana and for driving with an expired tag.
A spokesperson for the Department of Mental Health says Pickett is not currently on duty and is not being paid. They would not elaborate further about if Pickett was on leave or has been suspended. The spokesperson tells News19 that Pickett began working at Mental Health in May of 2004.
Richland County Sheriff's Department says Pickett was arrested Monday after a deputy noticed a car with expired tags. The deputy who pulled the car over says he smelled marijuana in the vehicle and says Pickett admitted having marijuana in his possession and also swallowing some of it.
