PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - An Easley woman has pleaded guilty to illegal neglect and involuntary manslaughter in the drowning of her two young children four years ago.

Prosecutor's spokeswoman Marcia Barker says 35-year-old Sandy Emery pleaded guilty last week and will be sentenced later.

Two-year-old Lacie Carter and 3-year-old Carter Emery drowned in their mother's backyard pool in September 2008.

Pickens County sheriff's deputies say Sandy Emery was asleep when the children went out an unlocked door. The children were found unresponsive in the bottom of the pool. Emery was charged six months later.
