Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- Sumter police are searching for a suspect in a fatal hit and run that took place outside Sumter's hospital. 

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Sumter police say a 70 year old female was killed while crossing Calhoun Street by a vehicle that did not stop.

Officers spoke with witnesses who say she was crossing the street heading towards Tuomey Regional Medical Center when a dark colored vehicle hit her.

Police say the victim was taken to Tuomey's Emergency Room, where she died from her injuries.
