A man is taken into custody on October 25, 2012 along Garners Ferry Road in Columbia.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police say there were three separate reports of robberies Thursday night--and they were all within about two miles of each other.
Columbia Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Timmons confirms the Hardee's on Rosewood Drive and the Dollar General on South Beltline were both robbed, and those crimes are connected. She says police also got a call of a robbery in progress at the Shell gas station in the 6500 block of Garners Ferry Road.
Beginning around 7:30 p.m., a flurry of police activity could be seen in that area, with officers driving quickly from scene to scene with their lights and sirens on.
Timmons says they got a report that one suspect ran in and out of the Target store on Garners Ferry Road. News19 personnel saw officers posted outside the store and who later went inside the business. Officers then moved over to the nearby Panera Bread, and one of the suspects was taken into custody at that location.
So far, police have confirmed two arrests in connection with the Shell attempted robbery. According to Timmons, it's unclear if the men in custody are involved with the other two robberies. At least one other person is wanted for the robberies of the Hardee's and the Dollar General
