Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers confirmed Monday that two bodies pulled from the Wateree River Sunday are two missing North Carolina teens.
Fellers said his office was able to identify the two as Jake Ziegler and Ray Pierce of Catawba County.
Their bodies were recovered just before 8 p.m. where Interstate 20 crosses the Wateree in Kershaw County.
The vehicle was found around 4:30 p.m. by Community United Effort, a North Carolina based group that searches for missing people. When they saw the vehicle, the immediately called law enforcement.
Matthews had said earlier that the bumper of the vehicle and the license plate matched that of one driven by the teens.
Ziegler and Pierce had been missing since October 13, when they disappeared while driving down to Myrtle Beach. Their cell phones last pinged off a tower in Fairfield County around 2:30 a.m. on the 13th.
