Irmo, SC (WLTX) -- A Dutch Fork High School teacher has been removed from the classroom after a photo surfaced of a politcally charged sign in her classroom.

According to Lexington Richland District 5, Laurie Humphrey is still employed at the school, but not in a teaching position.

"We're still investigating the issue we want to make sure we have all sides and make sure we don't make any decisions in haste," said Mark Bounds with the school district. "Our Human Resource department is looking at the situation and making sure the students are taken care of and that we're fair to the teacher."

Bounds said the investigation should be over quickly. And that will determine when and if Humphrey will be back in the classroom.

Lexington Richland District 5 has a strict policy on political campaign materials. And even districuted a flyer in September that spelled out what staff can and cannot do in regard to political issues.
