Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The generosity of people in the Midlands is already making a difference for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Along with Harvest Hope we asked for donations to help get food to some of the shelters in the Northeast that were low on supplies. On Saturday the South Carolina State Guard helped box some of the food purchased for relief.
Sunday, five planes filled with supplies left for Eagles Nest, NJ. Pilots from Aero Bridge donated their time, fuel and experience to help get the needed items to the disaster area. With the temperatures dropping and supplies low, this cargo is desperatly needed.
And we still need your help. A donation of $5.00 helps buy 25 meals. Harvest Hope understands that the needs of the Midlands also have to be met, so half of the money collected will stay here.
Harvest Hope is now accepting monetary donations at the following Palmetto Federal Credit Unions as part of their Hurricane Sandy relief mission.
