Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have arrested a suspect they say snatched a woman's purse and dragged her on the ground.

Officers have taken 31-year-old Juan Ashley into custody.

Officers say around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, they got a call of a purse-snatching at the Kroger at 10136 Two Notch Road.

According to the victim, a suspect took the woman's purse and then dragged her on the ground. People who witnessed the incident, however, came to the woman's aid and detained the suspect until deputies arrived.

During the incident, the suspect threw the purse to a second suspect, who got away. The purse was later found at a nearby Arby's restaurant with the cash and credit cards inside missing.

Deputies are still searching for the second suspect.
