Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies now say a man accused of taking food from a grocery store lied about who he was.
News19 told you Tuesday about the arrest of two men accused of robbing the IGA grocery store in East Camden. According to deputies, the men used a wheelchair to make off with meat, fish, and other items. Previous Coverage: Men Use Wheelchair to Rob Grocery Store
Deputies say when they booked one of the suspects, he told them his name was "Bobby Boykin." Later, however, the real Bobby Boykin showed up at the jail later to say the man in custody wasn't him.
Officers determined the man they had behind bars was actually Leroy Henry Boykin--Bobby Boykin's brother. Officers say Leroy Boykin gave officers his brother's name and Social Security number.
Kershaw County deputies say they're working with the Kershaw County Detention Center to insure that arrest and booking records and charges are being changed to reflect that Leroy Henry Boykin is being charged and that Bobby Boykin is not being credited with this recent shoplifting charge.
