A scanning machine waits to count ballots at the Richland County Election Commission.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - About 44 addtional uncounted absentee Richland County ballots were found Thursday afternoon, officials with the county election commission confirmed.
The additional ballots are being opened for the first time. They were found in a container in the election office, and were discovered after a commission attorney asked for one more check of the office.
Early in the day, Richland County Election Officials said about 150 uncounted paper ballots were found in a closet.

County Election Commission attorney Steve Hamm told the Associated Press that the ballots were in a sealed room, and were contained inside a bag sealed by the State Law Enforcement Division.
SLED had custody of the ballots when a judge ordered the State Election Commission to count the votes last week. The ballots were given back to Richland County officials Tuesday.
The rest of the paper ballots were counted Wednesday.
