Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- While most of you were sleeping early Thursday morning, thieves were hard at work here in the Midlands.

"Four vehicles had their wheels taken off of them, they were all on the ground on blocks," said Jeremy Carter, Sales Manager at Love Chevrolet in Columbia.

Love Chevrolet had tires and chrome rims stolen off of an Avalanche, two Suburbans, and a Corvette, but Love was not the only dealership hit.

According to Erik Nelson, General Manager of Herndon Chevrolet in Lexington, thieves got to their lots too.

Nelson said, "Corvettes, nice brand new vehicles that somebody has come by and stolen the wheels and tires off."

Between the two car lots a total of 6 vehicles had their tires removed, with an estimated loss of about $40,000 between the two dealerships.

Carter said, "There is a lot resale market for the nice upgraded wheels, that is what they are targeting, they left the base wheels alone and only targeted the really nice high-end wheels."

Unfortunately, the odds of finding the wheels are pretty small according to Nelson, "Ebay is so big and Craigslist and things like that, there are so many public market places where people can sell their own things, who knows?"

If you saw anything early Thursday morning at Love or Herndon Chevrolet, please call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
