Man With Multiple Gunshot Wounds Found In Burned Home

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is requesting the public's assistance in solving a weekend murder.

The victim, 60 year old Jimmy Lee Helms of Blackville Rd. near Gaston, died of multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. 

Helms' body was discovered when deputies responded to a fire at Helms' residence early Saturday morning. The fire caused extensive damage to the home, and firefighters discovered Helms' body on a couch once they got the fire out. 

Officers say it appears Helms was deceased when the fire started.
