COLUMBIA, SC (WLTX)--Two Orangeburg men were arrested on Friday after they took delivery of 25 pounds of marijuana according to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.

"Don Antonio Jackson, 25 and Christopher Renard Hawkins, 45  both of Orangeburg, were taken into custody by Berkeley County and Orangeburg County Sheriff's Deputies.  Both men accepted a package of 25 pounds of marijuana from an undercover officer posing as a delivery man at their Richardson Street address, " said Sheriff Ravenell.   The sheriff also says a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun was found on Jackson at the time of his arrest.

Jackson was charged with trafficking in marijuana, 10lbs or more but less than 100lbs.  He was also charged with posession of a weapon during a violent crime--trafficking marijuana is defined as a violent crime in the state of South Carolina.

Hawkins was charged with trafficking in marijuana, 10lbs or more, but less than 100lbs.

Sheriff Ravenel said, "We are grateful for the support of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office in this operation.  It is imperative that law enforcement agencies pool resources to keep all communities safer and rid our neighborhoods of criminals."
