Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - The Lexington County Coroner's office says a man is dead after a gun fired as he was dismantling the weapon.
The incident took place at Shooter's Choice in West Columbia around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Coroner Harry Harman says 62-year-old Jerry Marsh III was taking apart his 40 caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun when it fired, hitting him in the chest.
Paramedics took him to Palmetto Health Richland, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the West Columbia Police Department.
