Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - State troopers say they're charging a man with felony DUI in the death of a South Carolina Department of Transportation employee.
Officers say they charged 39-year-old Thomas Stafford of West Columbia with the DUI charge and leaving the scene involving death.
Monday afternoon, troopers say a vehicle driven by Stafford hit 21-year-old Nicholas Johnson on Interstate 20. At the time, Johnson was doing work for the SCDOT on the bridge that crosses the Broad River at mile marker 62.
He was denied bond at a court date Tuesday afternoon.
