Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A longtime staffmember of the South Carolina Governor's Mansion has been identified as the victim from Friday morning's fatal car crash in Columbia.
Chamberlain Branch died when a car he was driving was hit by another vehicle at the intersection of Blossom and Huger Street before 12:30 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle was also killed. Previous Story: Fatal Accident in Columbia Leaves Two People Dead
Branch was the governor's mansion complex supervisor. He had worked at the mansion for a decade for the Hodges, Sanford and Haley administrations.
"We are heartbroken and feel an incredible loss with Chamberlain's passing," Haley said in a statement. "Everyone who knew him loved him. His smile and laugh were contagious. He was a very special part of our family, and his gentle soul, good humor, and care will always be treasured memories for each of us. We ask that all South Carolinians lift up in prayer Chamberlain's wife Cherisse and their three children during this difficult time."
