Security personnel observe footage coming from security cameras stationed in Columbia.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - At Columbia's New Year's Eve celebration, there will be someone watching to try and keep people safe.
One hundred cameras are set up on Main Street for police to be able to watch the crowd expected at the Famously Hot New Year party.
Thousands of people are expected to attend, and police want to make sure they've got a good set of eyes on the crowds.
They'll be able to watch in real time and get officers to any areas that may be getting out of hand. Police hope just having the cameras will prevent crime and make people think twice before causing trouble.
