Richland County, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Elections Boards is putting together a search committee to find a new executive director for the county's election agency.
Current Richland County Executive Director Lillian McBride's resignation goes into effect Saturday. Dr. Jasper Salmond will serve as the interim director until the permanent replacement can be found.
Herbert Sims will lead the search committee. Sue Berkowitz will be a community representative. Sen. Darrell Jackson will appoint a member to represent Richland County's legislative delegation, while Richland County Council Chair Kelvin Washington will appoint a representative from his group.
McBride resigned after criticism of her department's performance in the November 6th election. On that day, some voters had to wait as long as seven hours to vote.
