CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities were able to rescue two people clinging to an overturned jon boat in Charleston Harbor despite dense fog.
Assistant Fire Chief Raymond Lloyd says the city's new fireboat was able to get to the victims early Saturday. Rescuers first used a PA system to make contact with the two, who are 22 and 23 years old.
A 911 caller had reported hearing a man and woman yelling from help from the harbor. The fog prevented the caller from seeing the two.
The two were in the water for more than an hour before they were rescued. They were turned over to paramedics.
The U.S. Coast Guard retrieved their boat.
