Brad Lawing spent a total of 17 years as a USC assistant coach
(WLTX) --- Longtime USC defensive line coach Brad Lawing is leaving USC to join the Florida Gators, that according to multiple reports.
Lawing is the longest tenured coach at USC on Steve Spurrier's staff, having logged 17 years in Columbia in two stints.
He first joined the Carolina staff in 1989 under Sparky Woods and stayed in Columbia until 1998. He returned to Columbia in 2006.
In between his stops at USC, he coached four years at Michigan State and three at North Carolina. He has coached in 10 bowl games in his career.
Florida was in the market for a defensive line coach when Dan Quinn left to rejoin the Seattle Seahawks, the team he worked for prior to joining Will Muscham's staff in 2010. Quinn had been the Gators' defensive coordinator and will serve in that same capacity with the Seahawks.
There is nothing official from the University of Florida, although word out of the Sunshine State is that an announcement could come as early as this afternoon.
