(WLTX) --- It was no secret that USC's Steve Spurrier and Lorenzo Ward wanted to move fast in hiring a new defensive line coach. Mission accomplished.

It was three days ago when longtime assistant Brad Lawing abruptly left USC for a position at Florida. But a replacement has already been found.

North Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams will be hired to the same position at USC, according to several reports.

Adams was with the Tar Heels this past season after following Larry Fedora from Southern Miss. Adams played for the Eagles in the early 90's and had been an assistant at his alma mater for three years under Fedora.
