(WLTX) --- Lower Richland standout Marcus Edmond had planned on changing his verbal commitment from N.C. State to Clemson and did just that as his official visit to the upstate wrapped up on Sunday.
The former News19 Player of the Week was originally committed to North Carolina State. But when Tom O'Brien and his coaching staff were fired, Wolfpack secondary coach Mike Reed was eventually hired by Clemson. The Tigers needed a defensive backs coach after Charlie Harbison left for Auburn.
Reed's arrival in Clemson led to Edmond taking an official visit and given his close relationship with Reed, Edmond felt comfortable with what Clemson had to offer and pulled the trigger.
Edmond played quarterback and defensive back for Lower Richland. The Tigers like him as a defensive back, although he has the versatility to play other positions.
