Sheriff: 4 Men Arrested in Connection with Murder

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County Deputies have arrested four men in connection with a murder that occurred January 25, just after 11pm.

Deputies say 17-year old Maurice Roberts, 18-year old Demetrice James, 19-year old Deshawn McCleary, and 21-year old Vincent Nelson Jr., broke into a residence on the 4000 block of Williamsburg Drive and opened fire.

According to Sheriff Leon Lott, the suspects shot and killed 20-year old Brandon Jones. Deputies also say that they shot two other males in the upper body, beating one of them in the head with a pistol.

All three victims were transported to Palmetto Richland.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts stated that Jones died as a result of his gunshot wounds. The other two victims are expected to survive their injuries.

Sheriff Lott says that Richland County Investigators followed up on leads and information from witnesses that led to the arrests of James, McCleary, Nelson and Roberts.

All four suspects are being detained at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.   Each suspect is being charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and burglary.
