Sumter, SC (WLTX) News19 has learned details about a rough landing for a jet at Shaw Air Force Base.

Shaw officials say the F-16 had a landing gear failure Monday. During the landing the jet slid about 1,500 feet down the runway. The pilot was not injured and Shaw officials say the runway is back at normal operations.

Shaw officials say the F-16 was assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing.

The Air Force is looking into what caused the landing gear to fail.
