Richland County, SC (WLTX) - A spokesperson at the McCrady National Guard Training Center says the site was the source of the loud booms heard and felt in the Midlands over the last two days.
Major Cindy King with the South Carolina National Guard says the base was expending ordinance Wednesday and Thursday. She says that effort is complete, however, and there will be no more noises.
The base is located off Leesburg Road in Richland County.
Wednesday afternoon, people began calling WLTX's newsroom and posting on Facebook about hearing loud noises in Sumter, Clarendon, Lee, Kershaw, Lexington and Richland Counties.
The noises were heard again Thursday in lower Richland County and Sumter County.
