Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County Deputies have arrested and charged a man with armed robbery of K-Mart located on West DeKalb St in Camden.
Oh February 4th, investigators say 50-year old Gregory Cason entered the K-Mart shortly before closing and concealed himself in a stock room. As employees began to process the day's cash, Cason jumped out of the stock room, brandishing a knife and demanding the money. After getting into a struggle with one of the employees, Cason fled the store on foot.
Investigators say after reviewing the surveillance systems, they realized it had been disabled prior to the robbery. Deputies say only someone familiar with the system could have disabled it so investigators focused their investigation on current and former employees and narrowed down their suspects to Cason who had been an assistant manager at the K-Mart until he resigned in May 2012.
On February 22 at around 1:30pm, Cason was arrested by Richland County Deputies after he was found sleeping in his car with an open container of alcohol in his vehicle behind a gas station on Two Notch Road.
Shortly after Cason's arrest, Kershaw County Sheriff's investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Cason and the national crime database confirmed Cason was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County for loitering and alcohol charges.
On February 23, Cason was released to Kershaw County authorities and is awaiting bond at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
