Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police have arrested a school cafeteria worker they say engaged in a sex act with a student.
Lawanda Ann Cummings, 42, is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Officers say Cummings had sex with a 13-year-old boy at her apartment on Columbiana Drive last year.
Investigators say Cummings worked at Dutch Fork Middle school, where the victim was a student. Lexington-Richland Five officials, however, say the incident is not connected to the school, because Cummings and the victim knew each other outside of school. They also say no inappropriate activity happened on campus.
A Lexington-Richland School District Five spokesperson says Cummings is on paid administrative leave.
