Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Columbia Police say a drunk driver caused power outages and a gas leak early Saturday morning.

Preliminary reports show that 47-year old German Figueroa was traveling south on Beltline Blvd shortly before 5am when he struck the median and ran off the roadway.

Officers say Figueroa then struck a power line cable and gas line causing power outages and a gas leak.

Columbia Fire units and SCE&G were on scene to repair the lines.

Figueroa is being charged with DUI, DUS and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.
