Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A fiery crash on Highway 277 in Columbia left one person dead Tuesday.
Officials say the vehicle crashed in the inbound lanes from Columbia near the Harden Street Extension around 11 a.m.
According to traffic investigators, the vehicle lost control and struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. Police say emergency crews and people who saw the accident tried to get the occupant out of the vehicle, but weren't successful.
Traffic was blocked in the area for about two hours.
The identity of the person who died has not been released.
