Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Sumter Police have charged a man with attempted murder in connection to a shooting incident from Wednesday.
Detectives say at approximately 4:45 p.m., Timothy Wilson, 22, of Sumter, shot a man at a home on Carolina Avenue.
Detectives say the suspect and victim had been in an ongoing dispute over a female acquaintance. When the victim and the female stopped by a mutual friend's home, Wilson fired several shots at the victim, who was sitting in a vehicle outside.
Police say the victim was grazed in the head by a bullet, but the injury was a non-life threatening injury.
According to detectives, after the shooting Wilson took off on foot when law enforcement arrived, but was arrested a short time later.
Wilson also faces charges for Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime and Possession of a Stolen Pistol. He is currently being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
