CLARENDON COUNTY, SC (WLTX) - The Clarendon County Sheriff says after a three hour search, he has located the parents of a toddler who was found wandering near a four lane highway Saturday morning.

Sheriff Randy Garrett says a woman driving on Highway 261 outside of Manning found the 2-year-old a little before 9 a.m.   She picked him up and called 9-1-1.

Sheriff Garrett says it took several hours to locate the boy's family as no one had reported a missing person.

"Two men came into the sheriff's office with one man claiming to be the boy's father," said Garrett.  "After questioning that individual, we discovered that he was in fact not the father and the real dad was the guy that brought him here."

Nakeios Robinson has been arrested for making false claims in additional to charges unrelated to this case.

Garrett said the toddler's real father, Triequomy Brown, is in custody for child neglect and endangerment.

Brown and Robinson are currently being held in the Clarendon County Detention Center.

The mother has been questioned by both the sherriff's department as well as the Department of Social Services.  It is unknown as to whether or not she will face charges.

The little boy is in DSS custody.
