Sheriff: Man, Woman Lied About Inmate's Beating

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Two more people have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation following the beating of a jail inmate.

Sheriff Leon Lott says 51-year-old Todd Andrew Hollins and 36-year-old Olympica Latoya Tuten have both been charged with obstruction of justice.

Lott says the two failed to report the assault and lied to investigators about the sequence of events pertaining to the beating.

Last month, 37-year-old Robin Smith was charged with assault and battery of an aggravated nature in connection with the injuring of an inmate. Smith was later fired. The inmate continues to receive treatment for his injuries.

Six jail guards have been place on administrative leave for their roles in the incident.
