Irmo, SC (WLTX) - Lexington-Richland District Five has named new principals for Irmo High School and Dutch Fork Middle School.
Former principal at Franklin High (Franklin, Ohio)-David Riegal has been selected as the new principal of Irmo High.
Riegal has a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University and a Masters degree from Michigan State University. During his tenure at Franklin, the school earned its first excellent rating from the Ohio Department of Education. David says he is thrilled and honored by the opportunity.
Current principal at Leaphart Elementary, Dr. Gerald Gary, will take over as principal of Dutch Fork Middle School.
Gary earned his Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Francis Marion University, his masters in educational administration from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University.
At Leaphart Elementary, Gary advanced the schools LEAP magnet program- the program helps to implement engineering concept into classroom curriculum.
The pair will begin their new roles at the start of the 2013-2014 school year.
