NEW YORK CITY, NY (WLTX) - In his first game as a member of the Boston Red Sox, Jackie Bradley Jr. had experts touting the former Gamecock as a possible Rookie of the Year candidate.
Bradley Jr. went 0 for 2 Monday, but reached base 3 times, all on walks. He also scored 2 runs and had his first career RBI in Boston's 8-2 win over the New York Yankees.
In his first career plate appearance, Bradley Jr. fell behind C.C. Sabathia 0-2, but battled back and earned a walk. He would come around to score that same inning. Bradley Jr. struck out in the 4th inning, but earned another walk in the 5th.
In his fourth at bat, the left fielder earned his first career RBI when he lined a shot off of Yankees pitcher Boone Logan, bringing in Will Middlebrooks.
Bradley Jr. would earn another walk in the 9th inning, coming around to score on a Shane Victorino RBI single.
Bradley Jr. was named the player of the game.
