Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- The Sumter County Sheriff's office has charged a 74-year-old Sumter resident with Neglect of A Vulnerable Adult Resulting in Death.
Isaac Wilson, of James Street in Sumter, was charged April 1st, following a March 15th incident where Sumter EMS was called to the residence because his wife, 78 year old Louise Wilson, was unconscious and unresponsive.
Upon arrival, EMS responders had difficulty entering the residence, reporting the doors of the home were blocked by trash around inside.
According to the EMS report, responders eventually made it to the bedroom Louise Wilson was in, and noted Wilson had an unknown green substance covering her legs and some skin peeling off.
Her toes were blackened, and Wilson appeared very malnourished, with open sores on her back and buttocks, leading EMS and law enforcement responders to determine Wilson had not been moved or cared for in the bed for some time.
Sumter EMS transported Mrs. Wilson to Tuomey Hospital, placed under Emergency Protective Custody, but passed away on March 22nd.
